Love Bar

LoveBar is a community rooted chocolate project started by Tegan Hagy and Philip Asbury in 2009. The two were passionate food production and about the possibilities of business nourishing communities as opposed to exploiting them. They also believed they could provide healthier, tastier chocolate alternative to existing chocolate options.

LoveBar chocolate only included three ingredients: cacao beans, cocoa butter and organic sugar. Love Bar was one of only a handful of small companies that took great pains to make chocolate from the bean. Asbury and Hagy roasted, hulled, ground, melanged, poured & hand wrapped every bar. In some cases, the two traveled directly to Ecuador and Mexico to purchase beans from farmers. In other cases, they ensured that the beans were organic and fair trade. Beans were sourced from Ecuador, Madagascar, Mexico and the Dominican Republic. Our chocolate is vegan, gluten, soy and nut free.

Every batch of bars is wrapped with original art designed and created by Philly artists.
After co-founding the company and producing chocolate for 3 years, I left the company.
The company ran from 2009 to 2015.
